The girl I always wanted to know
It was just like any other ordinary day for this second grader. The lunch
bell rang and we made our way to the cafeteria. The long slow line formed
around the outer wall of the cafeteria. Yes, just like any other day
standing in line waiting for my lunch. I fiddled with my lunch ticket and
when that got boring I slowly looked around the room at all the kids faces.
There she was. The most beautiful girl I had ever seen. My heart pounded in my chest and butterflies stirred in my belly. I couldn't take my eyes off her except when she was looking around. I couldn't let her see me seeing her. Every time she looked away I couldn't help myself but stare at this most beautiful girl. As she turned to look away I noticed a
scar on her face in the shape of a "U" that went clear up to her eye. It seemed to be relatively new as it was still red even into her eye. Whatever had happened it could not hide the sweet innocent beauty in her face.
I wanted to speak to her, but I hadn't the guts. I picked up my tray and sat down with my friends. Every day I would look for that little girl at lunch time and every day my heart would beat hard and butterflies would take flight in my belly.
Would I ever get to meet her?
